Pulmonary arterial hypertension
Dr. McLaughlin received her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University, and her Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University Medical School. Upon completion of her residency at the University of Michigan and her fellowship at Northwestern University, she served as Associate Director of the Center for Pulmonary Heart Disease at Rush University in Chicago.
Dr. McLaughlin is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Heart Association. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians Pulmonary Hypertension Guidelines Panel. Dr. McLaughlin is the Vice-Chair of the Scientific Leadership Committee of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. Dr. McLaughlin is Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension, the Official Journal of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. She is Chairperson of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Clinical Expert Consensus Document on Pulmonary Hypertension and Chairperson of the Pulmonary Hypertension Breakthrough Initiative Steering Committee. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology Scientific Program Committee and has previously served as the Chairperson of the American Heart Association Women in Cardiology Committee.
Dr. McLaughlin’s research focuses on pulmonary arterial hypertension and she has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials in this area. She is frequently an invited lecturer at national and international conferences on the topic of Pulmonary Hypertension. She is author of numerous peer-reviewed articles book chapters.
