Challenges of Interpreting Testing
Dr. Jean Elwing of the University of Cincinnati describes some of the challenges in interpreting diagnostic testing. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the role of right heart catherization and how results can often be misinterpreted or incorrectly measured. In addition, she talks about pulmonary function testing (PFT) and its usefulness in predicting outcomes. DLCO, as shown in the REVEAL data, can be a marker of prognosis and in specific populations such as scleroderma patients, a predictor of onset of PAH.
